What's happening?

The site of former Cooley High, under ownership of the Detroit Public Schools Community District, is the subject of various proposals for redevelopment. In November 2021, Life Remodeled proposed to turn Cooley High into a $37.5 million center for children and families to enjoy various programs, similar to their existing "Innovation Center" at the former Durfee Elementary. Ladies Entrepreneur Empowerment Circle has separately proposed turning the building into a home for LEEC, as well as for education, health and community-focused organizations. DPSCD was not seeking buyers for the property at the time.
