What's happening?

The Lenox Center, located in Alfred Brush Ford Park in Jefferson Chalmers, will be demolished and rebuilt off of the FEMA floodplain of the current building location as a 8,116-square-foot climate-resilient community center. Construction began on the city recreation center in May 2022 and most work is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The building will be solar-powered and will be accessible to residents during emergencies like power outages and floods. A.B. Ford Park will also be renovated. This project is funded in part by a $5 million donation to the Strategic Neighborhood Fund by the Penske Corporation, supplemented by $3.95 million in city funding.
