The $65 million Motown Museum development will expand the museum's existing campus on West Grand Boulevard to 50,000 square feet, making room for interactive exhibits, a professional recording studio, an expanded retail experience, a theater, smart classrooms and meeting spaces. Construction began on the third and final phase in 2022 as the museum unveiled a new community plaza and its Hitsville Next complex. The museum reopened for tours in early 2023.
