What's happening?

Birmingham-based developers George and Adam Nyman have been planning the 7-acre SoMA project, south of Mack at Woodward, for years. The proposal encompasses the $95 million City Club Apartments Midtown project, which includes three buildings with 350 units, a small-format Target store, two restaurants and underground parking (completion targeted for 2023). It also has included plans for office and retail space and a 10-story, 153-room AC Hotel incorporating the Bonstelle Theatre, a project proposed by the Roxbury Group (groundbreaking planned for 2022). The SoMA project has faced legal disputes over parking rights from members of the Prismatic Club, a men's club located within the development's footprint. Construction of a parking garage, the first phase of the SoMA development, has been completed.
