What's happening?

As part of the Amazon development at the state fairgrounds, the Detroit Department of Transportation is building a new transit center along 8 Mile to replace the existing State Fair Transit Center located on Woodward. After initial plans envisioned the demolition of the Dairy Cattle building, a second plan that reuses the building's facade was approved by City Council in November 2021, along with the $18.6 million project cost. The historic Coliseum structure on the site will be demolished, but the portico will be preserved.
