What's happening?

Banyan Investments announced plans for a $27 million, 63-unit condo renovation of the historic Stone Soap Building, with several stories added on top, in 2017. Initial plans called for housing the Shakespeare in Detroit theater group. In early 2021, the project was still in the works, but construction had not yet started.

The building was demolished in 2023.
