What's happening?
Renovation of The Alhambra, built in 1899, was announced by Olympia Development of Michigan in 2017 as part of plans for the District Detroit "neighborhoods" surrounding Little Caesars Arena, which came with nearly $400 million in taxpayer subsidies. Rehab work was initially scheduled to begin in 2018, with plans for 46 units and retail, but never began. No plans have been shared for the property.
