What's happening?
Plans to develop The Arena Lofts, a 153-unit building with retail next to Little Caesars Arena, were announced by Olympia Development in 2017 as part of its large-scale plans for the District Detroit "neighborhoods" surrounding the arena, which came with nearly $400 million in taxpayer subsidies. In 2018, Olympia changed course and said it planned to build a $48 million office and retail development instead. Construction was initially scheduled to begin in 2017. As of 2021, some work had taken place on the site. In 2024, developers told Crain's Detroit Business they had yet to determine what to do with the property.
