What's happening?

Mario Procida of New York City-based Procida Development Group is leading the multi-building Midtown West development at the site of the shuttered Wigle Recreation Center in Midtown. The $58 project is slated to include housing, retail space and a new one-acre city park on a site bounded by Selden, the Lodge Freeway, Brainard, and an alley west of Third Street. The first building, Fourth & Selden, was completed in 2021 with 26 units. Originally set to be condos, they were instead offered as apartments. Overall, the project includes about 250 units, with some reserved as affordable. The project is on formerly city-owned land and underwent Detroit's Community Benefits Ordinance process starting in 2017.
